A dark pattern used by 99% AI providers is providing you with the dumbest model as long as you're using their free version.
The goal is obviously frustration, so that you have no other choice but to upgrade or accept you'll deal with a bad output.
I've refused to play this game with ISMS Copilot: even the free forever assistant, ISMS Copilot Free, runs on the best model in town.
There are several reasons to this.
The first one is that accuracy is a key parameter of a compliance assistant. Taking the risk of a providing "less accurate" guidance because someone uses the tool for free doesn't make sense.
Another reason is that as a user myself, I hate this. So, I don't want to design this way my app. Instead, the limitation is on use.
Yeah, you can use it for free but if you need to use it more intensively, upgrade will be needed. This is more fair than leaving the "smart assistants" to the paid users only.
This is something I'll keep doing in next evolutions of ISMS Copilot (preview below). Wish me luck to prepare slowly and surely the next version.
